How maund, seer and chhatak work
The traditional units are built on the tola, legally 180 grains = 11.6638 g:
1 chhatak = 5 tola · 1 seer = 16 chhatak = 80 tola · 1 maund = 40 seer
So 1 seer ≈ 933.1 g and 1 maund ≈ 37.3242 kg. To go from kg to maund divide by 37.3242; to go back, multiply.
Examples

Good to know in Bangladesh
A market “maund” is not always the same. The standard maund is 37.32 kg, but some places use 40 kg or a local “42-seer maund”. Agree the kg per maund in writing before a big sale.
Government paddy and rice procurement is in kg. Convert a per-maund price to per-kg to compare.
Rice yield from paddy depends on variety, moisture and the mill; you can enter your own figure.
More: where these units come from
Maund, seer, chhatak and tola are the British-Indian “Bengal” units. In 1833 the tola was fixed at 180 grains, which made 1 maund = 82 2/7 lb ≈ 37.32 kg. Bangladesh uses the metric system officially, but village markets, paddy, jute and potato trading and old account books still use maund and seer. Jewellers call the tola a bhori and round it to 11.664 g.
