Frequently asked questions

What is 2 taka per 100 a month as a yearly rate?

2% a month is 24% a year in simple interest. If the interest goes unpaid and is added to the principal, the effective rate is higher still.

How do I see the real cost of an NGO loan?

NGOs usually quote a flat service charge on the whole loan while you repay it every week. Enter the charge, the number of instalments and any savings condition in the NGO loan true rate calculator to see the yearly rate on a declining-balance basis.

Where can I borrow at a lower rate?

Farmers can take agricultural loans from state and private banks at far lower rates than moneylenders charge. Licensed microfinance institutions also have a maximum service charge. Ask for the yearly rate in writing before you borrow.
