Frequently asked questions

How is Islamic bank profit different from interest?

In a Mudaraba deposit the bank invests the depositor's money in Shariah-compliant ways and shares the investment income in a pre-agreed ratio. It is not a guaranteed fixed rate, so it is called profit.

Where do the rates in these calculators come from?

As an example, one bank's published provisional rates, with the date and source. You can type your own bank's rate in every calculator.

Will the result match my bank exactly?

Close, at the provisional rate. The final rate, day counting and each bank's own rules can cause small differences — get the final figure from your bank.
