At the same time the medical allowance becomes ৳3,000 (৳4,000 above age 50), tiffin allowance ৳500 for grades 11–20, education allowance ৳500 per child (up to two), and the Bangla New Year allowance 15% of basic.

The 9th National Pay Scale was published in the gazette on 17 September 2026 as the “Service (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2026”, effective from 1 July 2026. There are still 20 grades.
Starting basics for grades 1–11 have doubled. Grades 12–20 rose more, by 115% to 142%, so lower grades benefit most. Grade 20’s starting basic went from ৳8,250 to ৳20,000.
Reports say the annual increment is 5% of basic, up to the top step of the grade. The wait for a higher grade without promotion has been cut from 10 to 8 years.

What is the salary for each grade in the new pay scale?
Starting basic: grade 1 ৳156,000 (fixed), grade 9 ৳44,000, grade 10 ৳32,000, grade 13 ৳24,000, grade 16 ৳21,900 and grade 20 ৳20,000. The full scale for all 20 grades is in the table on this page.
When do I get the full new salary?
The basic-pay increase comes in three phases. From July to December 2026, grade 9 and above get 40% of the increase and grades 10–20 get 50%. From January to June 2027 the shares are 70% and 75%. The full new basic applies from 1 July 2027.
How much is house rent under the new pay scale?
From 1 January 2028, in Dhaka North and South city it is 60% of basic for grades 20–16, 50% for 15–10, 45% for 9–5 and 40% for 4–1. Other specified cities get 50/40/35/30% and other areas 45/35/30/25%. Until 31 December 2027 house rent stays on the 2015 rules.
How much is the medical allowance now?
From 1 January 2028 it is ৳3,000 a month, or ৳4,000 after age 50. Until then it stays at the old ৳1,500.
What is the salary for grade 13?
Grade 13's new scale is ৳24,000 to ৳58,000 (it was ৳11,000–26,590 in 2015). At the starting step the basic is ৳17,500 in July–December 2026, ৳20,750 in January–June 2027 and ৳24,000 from July 2027.
How is my new basic fixed?
It's stated in your office's pay-fixation order. If you were at the starting step, you move to the new starting step. At a higher step, the published rule adds the gap between your old basic and the old starting basic to the new starting basic, then places you at the nearest or next step. Check the order for the exact figure.
Will this match my salary bill exactly?
