Silver

Gold bar duty
2 tola × ৳5,000 = ৳10,000
New phones
Free 1 / excess 0
Declaration needed
Yes

Known duty ৳10,000; declare at the red channel.

Used phones (2) stay duty-free separately. Excess new-phone duty and BTRC registration happen at the airport.

How this was calculated
  1. Gold jewellery 80 g ≤ 100 g: duty-free
  2. Silver 50 g ≤ 200 g: duty-free
  3. Gold bar 2 tola × ৳5,000 = ৳10,000 (≈ 23.33 g)
  4. New phones 1, free 1 (limit 1) → excess 0
  5. Dutiable goods present — use the red channel

How to use

  1. Enter gold jewellery and silver weights in grams.
  2. Add gold bars in tola and the number of new phones.
  3. Pick Yes if you hold a BMET card.
  4. Read the duty and the red/green channel result.

Duty formulas

  • Gold bar duty = tola x Tk 5,000 (max 10 tola, once a year).
  • Gold jewellery up to 100 g duty-free; silver up to 200 g duty-free.
  • New phones: 1 free (2 with a BMET card); excess = total − free.
  • Declaration is needed if: bars > 0, or jewellery > 100 g, or silver > 200 g, or excess phones > 0.

Worked example

80 g jewellery + 50 g silver + a 2-tola bar + 1 new phone (no BMET): duty = 2 x 5,000 = Tk 10,000. The jewellery (80 ≤ 100) and silver (50 ≤ 200) are duty-free and the single phone is within the free limit. But the 2-tola bar (about 23.33 g) means you must declare at the red channel.

Local rules

  • The 100 g jewellery allowance and the one-bar allowance each reset every calendar year.
  • At most 12 pieces of the same type of jewellery.
  • Excess new phones are assessed at the airport and need BTRC registration.

New phones 1 (2 with BMET card) Declare; duty on assessment
More: red vs green channel

With nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. With a gold bar, over-limit jewellery or silver, or extra new phones, declare at the red channel — skipping it risks fines and seizure.

Note: this calculator’s “known duty” covers only the fixed gold-bar duty. Over-limit jewellery, silver and extra phones are valued by the customs officer, so no exact taka figure can be given in advance. On silver, one report printed 2,000 g, but HSIA and Prothom Alo confirm 200 g, which this calculator uses. For large amounts of gold, verify the rules with NBR or airport customs first.
