How this was calculated
Medical merit = SSC × 8 + HSC × 12 + admission test (out of 100) = out of 200
E.g. SSC 5 × 8 = 40, HSC 5 × 12 = 60; 100 from GPA
Second timer minus 3, previously admitted minus 5; pass 40, 0 per wrong MCQ
BUET: HSC 5 plus 5 in each of Maths/Physics/Chemistry to apply
DU total 120 = test 100 (MCQ 60 + written 40) plus 20 from GPA; the GPA conversion is still unverified, negative marking 0
GST: 3.5 in each plus 7.5 combined to apply; fee 1,500

The merit and eligibility formulas
Medical merit = SSC GPA × 8 + HSC GPA × 12 + admission test (out of 100) = out of 200
Eligibility (last session): 8.50 combined, 4.00+ in each, 3.50+ in Biology.
Deductions: second timer minus 3, previously admitted minus 5; 0.25 per wrong MCQ, pass mark 40.
BUET: HSC 5.00 plus 5.00 in each of Maths/Physics/Chemistry.
DU: 120 total = 100 test (MCQ 60 + written 40) + 20 from SSC/HSC (conversion unverified).
Example
SSC GPA 5, HSC GPA 5, expected test score 70 — what does a second timer get?
From GPA: 5 × 8 + 5 × 12 = 40 + 60 = 100. Plus 70 from the test = 170, minus 3 for second time = 167 out of 200. A first-timer with the same scores gets 170.
2026-27 season status (verified dates)
Medical: test tentatively 4 Dec 2026 (depends on HSC results). GPA and formula circular not out.
BUET: test 16 Jan 2027. Preli or direct written still unconfirmed (2025-26 had no preli).
DU: apply 11–25 Nov 2026; tests — Science 12, Arts 19, Business 26, Fine Arts 22 and IBA 5 Dec.
GST: March 2027 — B on the 19th, C and D on the 20th, A on the 27th. About 20 members; fee Tk 1,500 (last cycle).

More: the outdated formula, cross-unit rules and second timers
The 15/25 formula is outdated. Many coaching blogs still print SSC×15+HSC×25 — a rule from years ago. Since 2025-26, merit is SSC×8+HSC×12+test 100 = 200. This calculator uses the current formula.
Cross-unit applications face the stricter bar: an arts-stream student applying to the Science unit needs 7.50 + 3.00, while a science student applying to Arts/Business needs 8.00 + 3.50. Pick your stream and unit above and the right rule is checked.
Second timers lose 3 merit marks in medical — even a perfect 100 from GPA needs a strong test score to compensate. BUET also allows second timers under the same GPA and PCM conditions.
Still to be confirmed: all four 2026-27 circulars (medical GPA/formula, BUET preli, the DU GPA-to-20 conversion, GST GPA/fee/members). This page will be updated as each drops. If the HSC 2026 result slips past mid-October, the tentative 4 Dec medical date may move.
Frequently asked questions
What combined GPA is needed to apply for medical?
The 2026-27 circular is not out yet. Under 2025-26 rules you need 8.50 combined, at least 4.00 in each of SSC and HSC, and at least 3.50 in Biology. The calculator above checks exactly that.
How is the medical merit score calculated?
Current formula: merit = SSC GPA × 8 + HSC GPA × 12 + admission test score (out of 100) = out of 200. With GPA 5 in both you get 40 + 60 = 100 from GPA, plus the test score. The old SSC×15+HSC×25 formula no longer applies.
Is GPA 5 enough to apply to BUET?
No. Under 2025-26 rules you need an overall HSC 5.00 plus 5.00 separately in Higher Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Whether 2026-27 has a preli round is still unconfirmed.
Is the DU admission test out of 100 or 120?
120 in total — 100 from the test (MCQ 60 + written 40) and 20 from SSC/HSC results. But the formula converting GPA into those 20 marks is still unverified, so the calculator shows the test score separately.
How many marks are cut for second timers?
Under last session rules, medical second timers lose 3 marks from merit (5 if previously admitted to a govt. medical college). Wrong MCQs cost 0.25 each and the pass mark is 40.
Will the GST cluster admission run in 2026-27?
Yes — tests are set for March 2027 (unit B on the 19th, C and D on the 20th, A on the 27th). GPA cut-offs and the Tk 1,500 fee are last-cycle figures. JnU, SUST, KU and CoU hold separate tests.
What score gets a govt. medical seat?
It depends on the paper and the competition each year, so no one can promise a number. But the more of the 100 GPA marks you secure (GPA 5 in both = 100), the less pressure on test day — try your expected score above.
