How to use

  1. Pick a new licence or a renewal.
  2. For a new licence, pick the categories (1 or 2) and the type (professional or non-professional).
  3. For a renewal, pick the type and enter how many years past expiry — you will see the total with the late fee.

The formula

New = learner fee (by category) + smart card fee (by type)

Renewal = renewal fee (by type) + Tk 518 × years late

Renewing within 15 days of expiry means no late fee. Lateness counts in full years — 2 years and 9 months late counts as 2 years.

Example

New non-professional licence in 2 categories — total? Learner Tk 748 + smart card Tk 4,212 = Tk 4,960.

Non-professional licence renewed 3 years late? Renewal Tk 4,212 + late fee Tk 518 × 3 (Tk 1,554) = Tk 5,766.

More: learner, test and smart card

The learner licence is the first step. You can take 1 or 2 vehicle categories together (e.g. motorcycle + light vehicle) — taking both at once costs less than two separate learners.

After passing the learner test (written, viva and practical), you give biometrics (photo, fingerprints, signature). The smart card is then posted to you — and this smart card fee is the larger part after passing (Tk 4,212 non-professional).

A renewal keeps the same licence going after expiry and costs the same as the smart card fee. Each full year late adds Tk 518 — but there is no fine within the 15-day grace after expiry.

Stay safe: apply on the BSP portal yourself and pay the fee by bKash or bank instead of handing cash to a broker, and keep the receipt.
